Wedge

The ‘Wedge’ Furniture Set, in all three configurations.

The ‘Wedge’ furniture piece (Designed in collaboration by Edward Osborne, Charlie Pritchard, Mason Crabtree) caters furniture to the ever-increasing number of temporary living arrangements of renters and students.

The research phase of this project Identified that this demographic’s home space was mobile and frequently changing, but their furniture was static and failed to meet their needs.

The Wedge assembly method

The solution was a furniture piece that could be assembled into a multi-purpose cabinet or a shoulder-height wardrobe without the use of any tools or permanet fittings. The furniture was designed to secure together using the rubberised wedges. This allows users to quickly and easily assemble to furniture into a useful form, and if their furniture needs change they can re-assemble the product to furfil their new needs.
In addition, while moving between new housing accomodation, the product can be assembled into a easy to carry case, to facilitate frequent moves and make this process as easy as possibled for the user.

Slideshow features the three separate Assemblies of the ‘Wedge’ furniture piece.
